Nothing beats the look of a well played old Martin guitar... and this 1974 D-18 does not dissapoint. The 70's was a spotty time for all manufacturerers who were coming to grips with a growing demand for their products but did not always have the means to satiate the desires of the growing market. Luckily this Martin was refretted and setup in the shop and many of the kinks (largely inonation issues) are worked out.
The D-18 has been the entry point for a classic Martin Dreadnought sized guitar, and while many consider the more expensive D-28 to be the more desirable instrument I find them to be equally lovely, just a little different.
This D-18 shows its age as the photos show, lots of checking in the lacquer and nicks/dings/dents. There have been three cracks that were secured and glued, one on the top, one on the side and one on the back. The neck angle is perfect, the refret set the neck up with the appropriate amount of relief (no truss rod on this model) and it is ready for another lifetime of play.
It is all original and comes in the original blue Martin hardshell case. If you are looking for a cannon Martin that you can take around with no concern look no further.
